The End of Summer

It is slightly embarassing to me how long my "Evenings with Edward" post has been on my blog. It was meant to be up for a few days and then I would post about my FAMILY! Ha:)

The end to our summer has been full and eventful...

July 26th - Craig and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary:)
July 28-30 - Callie and I went to our 2nd Ranger game together and spent some time with the fam at the Four Seasons! (post to follow)
July 30-August 2 - I got to spend some MUCH needed time with my very pregnant Best Friend in Nashville.
*During this time, I fell in LOVE with the Hunger Games Series which I had to read for school. It is violent, it is raw, AND there is a love triangle:)*
July 30-August 7 - Callie was spoiled rotten by 4 grandparents and countless Aunts and Uncles. She was treated to daily swimming, a short order cook, homemade smoothies at 9:00pm, and ridiculously late bedtimes.
August 7 to present - We are trying to reverse the effects of Callie's week away! HA!

This is Callie's first day in a new class at school! She is SOOOO excited:)
I will have to post about all of her cuteness later. She is beyond precious and FUNNY!

BACK TO SCHOOL TIME! I have to say, I haven't dreaded it as much this year...I think that is a good thing. I WILL miss my lazy days and my athletic shorts, but I am excited about a terrific year.

I have this picture in my classroom. Here is a typical converstaion when a student first sees it.
Student: "Miss, those your kids."
Me: "REALLY?! Do I look old enough to have kids that old? Look more closely..."
Student: "THAT'S YOU!" What are you wearing?!"
Me: "I never said I was cool."

I LOVE THIS PICTURE! It is my first day of 6th grade and Lance's first day of 1st grade. Every time I look at it, I am reminded of how akward being a 6th grader can be, so I keep it as a reminder. Also, I think it is nice for my kiddos to see that I was once in their shoes...maybe not their shoes, but I am in my red socks and loafers:)

HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL!

Evenings with Edward

In December 2008, I fell in love with...
When Edward Cullen first appeared in the Forks High School Cafeteria, I was done.

On November 20, 2009, I became obsessed with...

Even though Edward is largely absent, and I loathe Jacob Black, I thought it was haunting, depressing, and beautiful.

On June 30, 2010 at 12:01am, this one floored me...
Being my favorite book, I was nervous about it being as I pictured it in my head...I mean, you can't mess up the tent scene! I am happy to report that it (and every thing else) is PERFECTION!

Does THIS get on my nerves? Yes. Jacob, why are you always so pushy?
Then there are two hours of this...
Gorgeous Vampire.

In my opinion, the Cullens have never looked better. Emmett is huge, Alice is adorable, Jasper is scary, and Rosalie...well, I will never be satisfied with Rosalie...she is ok. The backstories are excellent!

The wolves are finally right...scary and very large.

Edward makes me swoon...

The triangle is amazing! Watching Edward and Jacob bicker is hilarious:) Funniest line...Jacob: "Well, I am hotter than you." (strictly in temperature, of course!) TEAM EDWARD!

After one of my viewings, my friend, Carol, made a great comment, "How do you get to be HER?!" Gorgeous vampire and very hot werewolf fighting over you...I am with the vampires, of course.

I am SO happy with Eclipse:) Now I just have to wait for it to come out on DVD, or I could just go see it again...

I can't wait for Breaking Dawn...November 2011...WHY?!

The Lake!

We finally found a weekend to join the Hays at Lake Brownwood, and we had SO much fun on our very quick trip!

We got to spend some time with our sweet nephew, Logan:)

Miss Priss wanted in my lap too, but she didn't know what to think about Logan trying to touch her. *BTW - The lake does WONDERS for my hair:(*

Julie and I love how this picture makes us look tan when we are DEFINITELY NOT...haha!
I think Uncle Tony is trying to talk her into jumping...
Her life jacket made her a little wary, but I think this was the first of many swims by the dock.
This is right after I jumped off the dock...13 feet! I am such a daredevil...haha. (Julie wouldn't jump, and I tried to tell her that if she jumped, she would see Edward...it didn't work.)

out for a ride
Most of the time she spent in the boat was spent sleeping...great place to take a nap!

swimming with Grandma
TOO cute:)

THANK YOU for a fun weekend Grandma and Grandpa!
We missed you Chris, Kylee, and Jeff!

Before we went to Brownwood, we spent some time with my fam in Abilene! We did the important things...Abuelo's, Rosas, golf, shopping at BCBG...you know. No matter how short our time, these things must happen:)

I bought this coat at BCBG, and now I am ready for winter. I LOVE IT!!!

Our summer is going TOO, TOO fast! We have a few trips planned that I am SO excited about, and then it is back to school.

Don't think I have forgotten to post about Eclipse...I am still so amazed by it that my thoughts aren't clear yet:)

South Dakota

A few weeks ago we got in the car and drove to South Dakota. Craig's grandparents and most of his family all live there, and we wanted a chance to take Callie:)

This is Day 1 in the car. She had her animals, and she had Yo Gabba Gabba. It is a good thing that I have an Ipod becuase we were subjected to DJ Lance Rock for about 90% of our 35 hour car trip. "So break it down..."

This is Day 2:(

Watch out...student driver (haha...at a gas station!)

Thursday night, we got to stay with Josh and Danielle. Callie finally got to meet her sweet cousin, Maliya:) We think they had a good time!

Golf at the Milbank Country Club...

...with the cutest caddy you have ever seen! Yes, Callie is in a hoddie and jeans...the weather was AMAZING!

Aunt Kylee gave her golf cart driving lessons
Just a smidge windy
Only my child could fall asleep in a moving golf cart with 90 mile an hour winds:) She makes her momma very proud!

On Saturday, we drove over to Minnesota for a family reunion with Grandma Hay's side of the family. It was a beautiful day with gorgeous scenery. We had a lot of fun meeting new people, catching up with family, and playing bean bags.

Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Hay

Callie was smelling these flowers...precious!

Unlike her mother, Callie thinks horses are great. She neighed about 100 times at this one. She also got to see some cows. She got so excited and MOOed so much that she scared them all away:)
Callie and her favorite guy on Father's Day!

Callie had so much fun while staying with her Great Grandma Mikk!!!
hamming it up at dinner at Shady Beach

Big Stone Lake

Callie loving on her daddy on our trip home!
Despite driving and driving and driving so more, we had an excellent vacation! It is so wonderful to spend time with family you don't see very often!
